In 1921, Point Lonsdale residents and holiday-home owners bought 43 acres for £1,000 and began building a golf course by hand. Led by A M Nicholas of Aspro fame, they cleared and levelled the land with volunteer labour and horse-drawn implements, opening the Point Lonsdale Golf Links in November 1922. A century later, the same club – now Lonsdale Links – has rebuilt its course and clubhouse on land stretching to Lake Victoria. Josh Hall traces that 100-year arc: the land, the people, and the decisions that took a volunteer-built country course to an acclaimed links course ranked in Australia's top 20.

Josh Hall arrived at Lonsdale Links in 2019, weeks before the old course closed for a $60 million redevelopment, and led the club through construction, the opening of the new links in December 2020, the COVID years and its centenary in 2022.
