Hub Update – August

There was a very exciting day at the HUB on Tuesday. The tilt slab walls of the museum were lifted into position by a huge 300 tonne crane which towered over the historical Post office.

Eight semitrailers carried the 16 slabs to be lifted high in the air and delicately placed into exactly the correct position to complete all of the North wall and most of the front wall. You can now see where the “peep holes” will be in the front wall.
All supervised by a stoic Charles Latrobe.

The QHM had a team of five record the action from 6.30am to 3.30pm. The next video in the “Building the Queenscliffe HUB” series will be on the YouTube channel soon. It was an impressive spectacle and the walls are looking most impressive.

Wonderful progress from July.
